Dear all,
last week I had a call with a company called TownsWeb Archiving, who specialise in digitising archive items and managing digital collections. You can find out more about them on their website
https://www.townswebarchiving.com/
TownsWeb have a new product called PastView Lite, which allows you to upload your digital collections, store them and display them in online exhibitions. I have attached a brochure so you can find out more about PastView Lite.
This is not a recommendation but just an example of the kind of products that are out there which allow you to showcase your collections much more widely online.
To break down the costs:
- £0 cost during year one,
this includes platform (backend), website (frontend), training (2x
30-minute sessions), licence and 10GB storage.
- Following the first year
the user will then be subject to the licence (£839.88 per annum) and
storage fees (£120 per annum per 10GB).
As you can see it is not cheap! However, there is no obligation to continue the service after the initial 12 months.
You can see some examples of organisations that use PastView below
if you want to know more, you can register your interest via the link below and TownsWeb will host a Zoom meeting to show you how the site works.
If any group finds other good example of content management systems, please feel free to post on the forum.
