Thinking about the Greenfield tri next year

   This year i crashed Mt bike  and broke shoulder blade and a few ribs made me stop and think   I really can get hurt cycling  in 25+ years i been very lucky I might as well try things i always wanted to  I like the idea of a Tri
  I have done a couple of road races  the montague Mug race for 2 years  got in the Top 40  out of over 100 in the 90's during the race my knees started to hurt from the pounding of the road Started on the down hill   then the last 2.5 miles i slowed down the 1st 3 were  under 18 min  I no i can run but the pain  OUCH !!  Im thinking is that normal for traning for  3 months of running ?  ( Lack of training )  I am thinking about getting 6 months of training  that should stop the knee pain correct  ?  I do not know alot about running   Then the TT would be just more TT bike the last 3 months 2 or 3 days a week   My swimming  is bad i can work on that  in the spring        does that sound like a good plan   I want to try to get a complete training  program set up by sept     any ideas  and help I would love to hear  Im a rookie as far as running and even more at swimmimg
