Hi all -
We'll be starting our Monday night intro ride series next week on 5/18/26. This ride is designed as an introductory ride for newer riders or those not familiar with riding in a group setting. The series will continue on Monday nights through the spring and summer (no ride on Memorial Day May 25 though). Full ride details below.
- Jonathan
This ride is designed for newer riders who are learning to ride with other riders in a group setting. We will normally average 12-14 mph, but will slow down to accommodate slower riders if necessary. This is a no-drop ride, meaning we will always stop or slow down to wait for the slowest riders, and will stop to assist anyone with flat tires or mechanical difficulties. We will alternate among four different courses over the course of the summer, on mostly flat roads, with occasional small hills. All routes are between 15 and 20 miles.
Rides will begin with an overview of skills required for group riding, and we will practice those skills during our rides -- pointing out obstacles in the road, signaling our intentions, keeping the group together, and moving around within the group.
All rides start at 5:30 PM at the parking lot at Sheldon Field next to the Fairgrounds in Northampton. There is ample free unlimited-time parking at the start location.
If you're planning on attending, please use the NCC's club page on RideWithGPS app to sign up, and sign the waiver there, so the ride leaders know who to expect on the ride.
This is a great chance to meet people, learn ride etiquette, and get comfortable with group rides. All types of bikes are welcome. Street clothes or cycling kit are both OK. Helmets are required. Led by some of our most experienced and supportive NCC riders.
