For the NCC's fall road race series, we will be joining organized Zwift races, racing against each other as well as other riders.  Scoring will be based on how you finish relative to other riders in your category.

The Week 6 race will be on Monday December 7, 5:30 PM EST.  We will be entering the "ZHQ FutureWorks Crit City Race - Anti-sandbagging " (https://zwift.com/events/view/1309738) race, which is 10/8/6 (A/B/C&D) laps of the Downtown Dolphin course in Crit City, for about 12.2/9.8/7.3 miles total.   Each category in this week's race will ride separately.  You can register for the race ahead of time in your browser at the link above, or you can join the race on the spot when you start Zwift by finding it in the event list in the upper right corner of the startup screen.  Note that start times for these races will vary, depending on the Zwift event schedule, but will generally start between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM.  There is no late join option for organized races on Zwift, so make sure you're ready to go ahead of the scheduled start time.

Scoring will be based on the results published by ZwiftPower (https://zwiftpower.com/).  You must be registered for a free account on ZwiftPower in order for your results to be counted.  If you're not already registered on ZwiftPower, be sure to sign up in advance of the race, as it takes a little while to get your Zwift account linked to your ZwiftPower account.  You should also join the NCC team on ZwiftPower (https://zwiftpower.com/team.php?id=227) so that I can pick you out in the results.

Zwift races have four categories - A, B, C, and D.  You must enter at least the category specified by the "Minimum Category" setting on your ZwiftPower account.  You can race up a category if you'd like, but you cannot race down (a Category B rider can enter the B race or the A race, but cannot race with the C race).  Riders racing up a category will receive a 10% point bonus.  Women racing in any open (mixed-gender) category will also receive a 10% point bonus.

Scoring is based on how well you place relative to the other riders in the race.  The maximum possible points for a race is 100 points.  If there are 100 people in your race, and you finish 1st, you will receive 100 points.  If you finish 2nd, you will receive 99 points.  If you finish last, you will receive 1 point.  If there are 10 people in your race, 1st place is worth 100 points, 2nd place is worth 90 points, etc.  In general, Points = (100 * (B + 1)) / N, where B is the number of riders you beat, and N is the total number of riders in the race.

Optional audio/video chat will be  available on NCC's Discord channel at https://is.gd/nccdiscord.

This race is part of our weekly lineup of  Zwift rides, as follows:
  -  Mon afternoon - Road Race (times will vary between 5 PM and 7 PM EST)
  -  Tue 8:00 PM - Social Ride (invite required)
  -  Thu 5:30 PM - Time Trial / Hill Climb (solo effort, TT bike required) (invite required)

Great NCC turnout, with five racers in the B group (Charlie, Zinj, Kevin, Mike H, and myself) and three in the C's (Michael B, Chris J, and Melissa, making her return to the racing scene after an IRL tumble a few weeks ago). Charlie missed the start by a minute or two, but hung in to soften up the field with a few attacks. I took some flyers on the hill with a couple of feather powerups and a ghost, but nothing in Zwift ever gets away. Connection dropout in the final sprint had me sprinting alone to the line, but still got fourth, just behind Kevin, who got on the podium in third.  Michael just missed the podium in the C group with a fourth-place finish, retaining his overall series lead. Video at https://youtu.be/zwIOtJqXPsc, ZwiftPower results at https://zwiftpower.com/events.php?zid=1309738.

Chris J was in Discord with us, but didn't show up in the ZwiftPower results, so I'm not sure where he finished. Chris, if you let me know how you placed, I will add you to the results.

Tonight's results:
1. Kevin Weinman - 3 of 15 (B race)- 86.7 points
2. Michael Bello - 4 of 18 (C race)- 83.3 points
3. Jonathan O'Keeffe - 4 of 15 (B race)- 80.0 points
4. Melissa Warwick - 6 of 18 (C race)- 72.2 points
5. Zinj Guo - 8 of 15 (B race)- 53.3 points
6. Mike Hempstead - 12 of 15 (B race)- 26.7 points
7. Charlie Bailey - 15 of 15 (B race)- 6.7 points

Overall series standings after Week 6:
1. Michael Bello (6 races) - 514.1 points
2. Jonathan O'Keeffe (6 races) - 513.6 points
3. Kevin Weinman (5 races) - 442.7 points
4. Zinj Guo (6 races) - 345.1 points
