[NOTE: Be sure to read the full description below -- we are doing *two* mini-races this week]

For the NCC's fall 2022 road race series, we are joining organized Zwift races, racing against each other as well as other riders.  Scoring is based on how you finish relative to other riders in your category.

The Week 4 race will be a special double-feature on Thursday October 27, starting at 5:10 PM EDT.  We are racing Stage 4 of the Zwift "RACE LIKE A CHAMP" series, which this week is split into two mini-races, and we will do both of them.  The first race  is "STAGE 4a: RACE LIKE A CHAMP - Queens Highway " (https://www.zwift.com/events/view/3147464). The race is one lap of the Queen's Highway course in Innsbruck, for about 3.6 miles total.  This will be immediately followed at 5:30 PM by "STAGE 4b: RACE LIKE A CHAMP - Cobbled Climbs Reverse " (https://www.zwift.com/events/view/3147590). The race is one lap of the Cobbled Climbs Reverse course in Richmond, for about 5.8 miles total.  Your points this week will be the combined total of the two races.  You must complete both races in order to qualify for any points.

Each category in this week's races will ride separately.  You can register for the races ahead of time in your browser at the link above, or you can join the race on the spot when you start Zwift by finding it in the event list on the home screen.  You may need to scroll the event list on the home screen to find the race.

I strongly recommend you sign up ahead of time for these races in your browser using the links above, to make sure you're signed up and ready to go for the second race, which will start just a few minutes after you're done with the first one.

Note that start times for these races will vary from week to week, depending on the Zwift event schedule, but will generally start between 5:00 PM and 7:00 PM.  There is no late join option for organized races on Zwift, so make sure you're ready to go ahead of the scheduled start time.

Scoring will be based on the results published by ZwiftPower (https://zwiftpower.com/).  You must be registered for a free account on ZwiftPower in order for your results to be counted.  If you're not already registered on ZwiftPower, be sure to sign up in advance of the race, as it takes a little while to get your Zwift account linked to your ZwiftPower account.  You should also join the NCC team on ZwiftPower (https://zwiftpower.com/team.php?id=227) so that I can pick you out in the results.

Zwift races have four categories - A, B, C, and D.  You must enter at least the category specified by the "Minimum Category" setting on your ZwiftPower account.  You can race up a category if you'd like, but you cannot race down (a Category B rider can enter the B race or the A race, but cannot race with the C race).  Riders racing up a category will receive a 15% point bonus.  Women racing in any open (mixed-gender) category will  receive a 30% point bonus.

Scoring is based on how well you place relative to the other riders in the race.  The maximum possible points for a race is 100 points.  If there are 100 people in your race, and you finish 1st, you will receive 100 points.  If you finish 2nd, you will receive 99 points.  If you finish last, you will receive 1 point.  If there are 10 people in your race, 1st place is worth 100 points, 2nd place is worth 90 points, etc.  In general, Points = (100 * (B + 1)) / N, where B is the number of riders you beat, and N is the total number of riders in the race.

Optional audio/video chat will be  available on NCC's Discord channel at https://is.gd/nccdiscord.

This race is part of our weekly lineup of  Zwift rides, as follows:
