I’m waffling about tomorrow’s NYD ride. I just drove the 28 mile route and it’s pretty icy and snowy along the shoulder in a lot of places. Additionally, there are numerous places where the ice extends across the entire lane.

With an increasing chance of snow overnight into morning and the now predicted high at noon of 19 in Sunderland, cancelling seems like the right decision.

Please let me know your thoughts. Only two people are signed up at the moment. If I do cancel, it will be later tonight or by 10 am tomorrow at the latest.

Sorry or you’re welcome.

I support rider safety over the thrill (?) of riding in the freezing cold and wind. I've been out running on the main roads and it is dangerous for two feet on the ground with spikes, never-mind two skinny tires. I was looking forward to it this year, but the recent ice and re-refreezes has me opting out.  Thanks for keeping the tradition (no matter if it has been a go/no go) for many, many years David!

I would advise you to cancel the ride, David.  It seems like more downside risk than the upside could justify.  Maybe you could open your windows and do a Zwift ride and call it a win
