FYI, Rt. 66 is undergoing chip sealing starting at the Westhampton town line. Presently the work has progressed beyond the W. Farms Road intersection and indicators suggest it will go to the Florence Road intersection.

Roger,
Thanks for the heads up. Is the section from the Westhampton line to West Farms rideable?

Cindy,

Chip sealing usually takes a few days to pack down. Right now there is a lot of loose stone between, and aside, the more packed stone where vehicles have traveled. Rideability will likely depend on the type of bike you're riding and your own skills. Personally I'd avoid riding (on a road bike) on that stretch for a couple of days.

Roger

West Farms Road also has the loose stone and it is packed down a bit more at 4pm then it was at 10am but the packed sections are about 2 feet out from curb. The traffic volume is sending these stones flying, so although it's ride-able, plan on lower traffic times or prepared to get a bit pummeled. I've been driving the inside line to help us cyclists. The mail trucks should help too.
