We haven't repeated a dirt road ride since we started the Sunday series back up at the beginning of April! So we'll try to fill in a little more of the map to the west. (Check out the NCC Collection of Dirt Road Rides for all our routes)

The dirt roads do have lots more shade than the paved ones, so while you may warm up climbing, it will be shaded!

Meet In Charlemont at the Hawlemont Regional Elementary School for 9AM departure.

This route is front loaded with climbing. The dirt roads are lovely hardpack. Low gears are highly recommended (1:1 or lower). As usual, we will regroup regularly, so don't be intimidated by the climbing figures, but do come prepared.

Lunch/snacks can be found just as we turn off the main road in Readsboro. But be warned, don't overeat... the climb out of Readsboro is one you will remember for a long time. I know I will!

All the climbing will be rewarded with great views of wind turbines and Mt Greylock.

We then ride through Savoy Mountain State Forest and *gasp* descend back to Charlemont on pavement.

The dirt road I'd planned to take (Adams) is no longer the lovely smooth dirt is was a few years ago, but if you want to fly down a rocky stream bed, I'll tell you where to turn.

Otherwise, you've earned your turns on the descent.
