On Saturday at 9 AM, I'm planning the "Everything Bagel” route in New York City (https://www.strava.com/segments/19141223). This will be a 90 minute ride.

Note: Few of our regulars have the Surrey Hill route achievement badge.

If anyone is interested, just follow me on Zwift (Michael Bello - NCC) and I'll add you to the invite. If you follow me, please send me a note.

A few recommendations...

Zwift now allows late joiners to Meetups, but it does not always work. Give yourself a few extra minutes to join the ride anyway (on Zwift 5 minutes before the ride would be ideal).

Please wear the NCC jersey. This makes it easier to recognize who is in the group. On a computer, log into Zwift, once riding, press “P” on you keyboard and enter NCCMAKIT. After that, you can use the jersey on any device running Zwift (laptop, tablet, phone, etc.).

Our previous ride were enhanced with conversations on Discord. After installing Discord, ˙˙use the NCC invite to join the conversation: https://discordapp.com/invite/uXdHm7m

If you are new to Discord, I recommend this article on ZwiftInsider: https://zwiftinsider.com/using-discord/. Please pay particular attention to Step 4: "Discord automatically places you in the text chat channel, which isn’t where you want to be. Click the hamburger menu (3 lines at top-left) to view all the channels on the server. Click “General” under voice channels, then click “Connect to Voice” to join the general voice chat."

I also recommend testing Discord out prior to the ride. Feel free to contact me if you want to test Discord.

Our destination this morning was futuristic Central Park. Nine of us (Ashley, Charlie, Chris, David, Greg, Joe, Melissa, Zinj, and me) rode the Everything Bagel route.

At the 90 minute mark, we completed approximately 25.7 miles with 2,255 feet of climbing.

Almost everyone was on Discord. Zinj was climbing the Alpe du Zwift, again, but was with us on Discord. Despite his effort for the lightweight wheels, at the summit he earned another pair of socks. We encouraged Zinj to keep trying, but also mentioned that the Enve 3.4 wheels in the drop shop are very good for climbing. Zinj also shared that he order the parts to build the Zwift e-racing controller (https://zwiftinsider.com/bluetooth-eracing-controller/).

Melissa's quest for a bike for her daughter is almost complete. She asked the group about different components on her potential purchase. Ashley and I are eyeing the same bike our younger kids when Melissa's daughters outgrow it.

Charlie and his new puppy have started classes. For week one, Charlie went alone, so perhaps the dog has the upper-hand. David is getting into Zwift. We learned he has a cheatsheet that explains the different keys to take actions. He even filled the group in on the F10 key. Joe learned about Ride Ons (thumbs ups) being stored in our jersey pockets.

Zinj earn the Working form Home badge (14 Zwift days in a row) and the Avid Climber badge (5 times up the Alpe du Zwift). Ashley completed the Ride California challenge and unlocked the S-Works Tarmac. She also finished level 13 and earned the Zwift Patterned Gloves. David completed level 8 and his avatar received the Vintage Kit Pack. Joe can now wear the Cool Shades after moving to level 19. Ashley, Chris, David, Greg, and Joe earned the Everything Bagel route achievement, which doubled their XP points for the first lap.

Here is the NCC Zwift schedule:

- Mon afternoon - Road Race (times will vary between 5 PM and 7 PM EST)
