Many of you know about this very popular Cross race. Did you know it takes place just over the state line in Thompson, Connecticut? AND did you know it is much more than just about racing? I'd love to see you out there either racing or participating in one of the awesome events. Represent NCC!

Here are some non-race events within the KMC CrossFest:

  • The Champions Dinner: Dinner with the top 20 athletes in a banquet. Each table has a celebrity guest pro. It's a full buffet with great beers from New Belgium and high end wines from amazing California vineyards. It is all right on site at the Raceway Restaurant. This event benefits MassBike. Saturday, 7 p.m.

  • Gran Fondo New England: This is a classic ride in the Quiet Corner with four route options, with the 100-mile route rolling through three states. Every rider gets a T-shirt, New Belgium pint glass, fully supported ride, a post-ride lunch, beers and a raffle to win all sorts of prizes, including a Cannondale bike. This event benefits the Connecticut Cycling Advancement Program, one of the nation's top junior development programs. Saturday, 8:30 a.m.

  • John Paire Memorial Kids Ride: A  Cannondale Cyclocrossworld adventure ride from the venue in Thompson onto the Air Line Trail and into the Douglas State Forest for a beginners loop and back. Last week the town of Dudley suffered a horrible loss when one of its beloved middle school educators was killed while commuting home by bike. That school and that entire town is coming out for this free ride led by several pros. This is perfect adventure for parents looking to get their kids excited about bikes. Saturday, 12:30 p.m.
