This week's adventure heads out to enjoy the views of Little Mohawk and Reynolds.
1:1 gearing for climbing is always nice to have. The steepest grade is on Maple St in Conway but it is short. The long climbs have some punchy sections but also many breaks along the way. Regroups and snacking will definitely take advantage of the beauty of the area.
We ride as ambassadors for the club and the sport and will
follow the rules of the road.
Our water stop is at Harpers Store at 33.8 miles. An earlier stop at Bakers in Conway is available. Pine Hill Orchards for donuts is a slight off course possibility.
This C ride pace will go 17-19mph on the flats in favorable conditions. Overall Ride Avg is not reflective of the pace. We will use pacelines as single file riding is required on most roads and this keeps things smooth, safe and predictable. Everyone climbs at their own pace. We will have regroups, pictures, views, snacks, soft pedals, warm ups, cooldowns, and breaks from traffic where we chat. That said, if you're prefer to motor along on the flats at 13-15mph this ride is not the best fit for you. To try and include riders in both categories would allow the gaps between riders to grow beyond 15 minutes. We will always have GAPS, especially on the climbs, but minimizing them (5 minutes or so) helps everyone have a more enjoyable ride. The last rider to the regroup will always be allowed sufficient time to recover.
The idea is a fun, safe C group ride where we all leave, ride and return together. Descriptions, terrain and length should help in your ride choice. As a no drop C ride we will always encourage individuals to push a bit farther in a group than they would alone AND we encourage you to try to assess if your abilities fall reasonably within the description.
Remember only those who have signed the club waiver can join the ride. If you are a current member you have already signed. Club waiver link here: form.jotform.com/213646475508058
Please
come self sufficient. Water, snacks, flat repair kit, tools, and
knowledge to fix your bike or an alternative plan for getting home.
Riders tend to assist but please don't rely on it. And remember Load the Route!
Any questions, please ask.
