On Tuesday at 8 PM, I’m planning the Tempus Fugit route in Watopia (https://www.strava.com/segments/20350088).

If anyone is interested, just follow me on Zwift (Michael Bello - NCC) and I'll add you to the invite. If you follow me, please send me a note.

A few recommendations...

Zwift now allows late joiners to Meetups. Give yourself a few extra minutes to join the ride anyway (on Zwift 5 minutes before the ride would be ideal).

Please wear the NCC jersey. This makes it easier to recognize who is in the group. On a computer, log into Zwift, once riding, press “P” on you keyboard and enter NCCMAKIT. After that, you can use the jersey on any device running Zwift (laptop, tablet, phone, etc.).

Our previous rides were enhanced with conversations on Discord. After installing Discord, ˙˙use the NCC invite to join the conversation: https://discordapp.com/invite/uXdHm7m

If you are new to Discord, I recommend this article on ZwiftInsider: https://zwiftinsider.com/using-discord/. Please pay particular attention to Step 4: "Discord automatically places you in the text chat channel, which isn’t where you want to be. Click the hamburger menu (3 lines at top-left) to view all the channels on the server. Click “General” under voice channels, then click “Connect to Voice” to join the general voice chat."

I also recommend testing Discord out prior to the ride. Feel free to contact me if you want to test Discord.

In preparation for the finale of the NCC Hill Climb / Time Trial Series on Thursday, Charlie, Melissa, Teddy, and I rode the Tempus Fugit route in Watopia.

The climbing was intense tonight. In the 60 minutes, we covered 20.8 miles and ascended 172 feet. This route should prepare us well for Thursday's hill climb of Alpe du Zwift!

As always, we chatted on Discord. Topics included Monday's Zwift race, smart vs. non-smart trainers, today's Apple event, and online elementary school.

Teddy earned the Tempus Fugit route achievement, which doubled his XP points for the first lap.

Here is the NCC Zwift schedule:

- Mon 6:30 PM - Road Race (Follow Jonathan O'Keeffe on Zwift for invite)
- Tue 8:00 PM - Social Ride (Follow Michael Bello on Zwift for invite)
- Thu 5:30 PM - Time Trial / Hill Climb (solo effort, TT bike required - Follow Michael Bello on Zwift for invite)
- Sat 9:00 AM - Social Ride (weather dependent - Follow Michael Bello on Zwift for invite)

Hello,

I am trying to ""gain control/manage"" my MDD and get back into cycling. Cycling did that for me when I was cycling with the club. Are the rides open to the public? My riding ability is low, but I need the social aspect. Having interaction and support from others helps with my morale and drive to want to continue cycling. The goal of these rides is to use cycling as a form of "medication" and as an outlet for me to disperse certain emotions. Any help and info would be greatly appreciated.

Christopher,

I’m not sure if you were asking about outdoor rides. Unfortunately, the club has suspended all outdoor group rides due to the Coronavirus pandemic. Hopefully, we will be back to normal next year and I’d recommend starting with the “Delta” ride. Any information on the rides will be available on the club calendar, which can be found at https://www.nohobikeclub.org/general/club-events-calendar/.

The Zwift Rides here are indoors and can be very entertaining if you join in the discussion online. Michael has put together a great guide that should help with a trainer and how to get set up and connected. It can be found here:

Cycling is helping many of us these days! We’re glad you reached out.

John,

I apologize for not being clearer. Zwift were the rides that I was interested in. Thank you for the information.
