Full coverage fenders are great on touring bikes (Velo Orange makes great aluminum ones) that protect you, your bike, AND a drafting cyclist; but they require bosses and generally won’t fit road bikes.
There are clip on “semi-full coverage” ones such as the SKS Speedrocker Road that will attach without bosses.
If you are only concerned about protecting yourself and not your draftees or bike, AssSavers makes some effective ones that don’t require bosses. I use their Ass Saver Regular (rear fender) on my road bike, and the Fender Bender Big (rear) and Mudder Mini (front) on my gravel bike. https://ass-savers.com/collections/rear-mudguards I have taken these to Europe for my friends who rented gravel bikes to use.
