Hopefully the roads will dry out by the start.  45 mile spring pace ride to loosen the legs.

Roads were fender-worthy today, so I’ll again be on a fendered bike.

I’ll probably be a bit slower than Christian so if anyone was interested in riding outside Sunday but worried about pace, I will be sweep.

Thanks Christian!

What a lovely day out today. Sorry, Pam, for not wearing fenders😉

Tim, it was great to meet you. I look forward to more of these.

Servus,
Alex

Full coverage fenders are great on touring bikes (Velo Orange makes great aluminum ones) that protect you, your bike, AND a drafting cyclist; but they require bosses and generally won’t fit road bikes.

There are clip on “semi-full coverage” ones such as the SKS Speedrocker Road that will attach without bosses.

https://www.rei.com/product/162206/sks-speedrocker-gravel-fender-set?sku=1622060001&irclickid=XpJzSVxOSxyZTQdzdG2LayWDUkuzSLR5RU7i3s0&cm_mmc=aff_IM-_-221109-_--_-cyclingnews-us-_-Future%20PLC.&irgwc=1&afsrc=1

If you are only concerned about protecting yourself and not your draftees or bike, AssSavers makes some effective ones that don’t require bosses.  I use their Ass Saver Regular (rear fender) on my road bike, and the Fender Bender Big (rear) and Mudder Mini (front) on my gravel bike.   https://ass-savers.com/collections/rear-mudguards  I have taken these to Europe for my friends who rented gravel bikes to use.

I use the speedrockers on my travel bike. They have a road version and now have a nice wide gravel version. No eyelets and they do not pass through the fork, so they nicely avoid clearance issues.

fenders not only make your ride more pleasant, they also minimize excess piles of  laundry!
