A series of email conversations about developmentally appropriate
practice in a particular classroom was the impetus for this group.
The original emails were removed because an individual was
identifiable. In the spirit of building trust and modeling respect,
we ask that comments not identify individual students, teachers, or
programs.

From the original discussions, two topics emerged that are important
to early childhood.
1. What is developmentally appropriate? How do you know?
2. What steps or procedures are there to implement changes when
practices are not developmentally appropriate? How are teachers
supported in a way that encourages them to gain new skills and helps
them improve?

I hope to see an ongoing, rich discussion in this forum. Thanks to
all who participate.
