It is nice to see a country with a population of 1.34 billion is investing so much towards renewable energy. It will not only decrease the pollution of the world but also help the people of India to have electricity at a reduced cost. Countries like China and India have the most population in the world, if these countries go towards renewable energy then it will be a big help in the climate crises. This shows the determination of this nation towards sustainable, green and renewable future. Not only they have achieved the specified targets for the previous years but the chairman of IWTMA is claiming for an 11% increased expected wind energy capacity for 2017-18 year. Gamesa is playing an important role for India to attain their targets for wind energy. It is good that Gamesa has started participating in the bids as well, but I am happy to see the competition in the lower bids. This shows that they are competing with each other in this direction which is a good sign towards renewable future in India.

A lot of countries have been encouraging their business to install renewable energy, such as solar panel or wind turbine. Denmark owns the best wind source geographically, and a big portion of its electricity come from wind power, but Denmark’s utility is also the one of the highest in the world, 4-5 times higher than the US, 10+ times higher than India. Indian’s government encourages their businesses to increase the installed capacity of wind power, they should also consider the price of its utility because it could affect the competitiveness of Indian’s business and people’s life.

Chun, that's a useful information that you have added to my knowledge. Denmark has very high taxes on the electricity and that's why the price is higher. But I guess if Indian government controls the taxes then there will not be any problem for the prices. Another point is the currency conversion and the value of the local currency in a country, if I look at the currency rate then USD is equivalent to 6.52 DKK. While on the other hand USD is equal to 64.5 INR. So if we compare both currencies in USD then definitely DKK will be higher as compared to INR.

This article is interesting in that the IWTMA is adding renewable energy sources annually, and increasing the capacity from previous years at that. I agree with Arslan that this is a great move in the right direction with such a large population. To meet the power demands of such a massive population, it seems to me that this there will the addition of these wind turbines for decades to come.

It's also interesting that a Spanish manufacturer is leading the wind turbine market in India. Perhaps, I'd like to see an Indian manufacturer make strides to take the lead in the market on its home turf to better boost their domestic economy. I suppose this is the cost and what drives competition.

This is great for India and it's people as there is a considerable amount of population that still struggles to get electricity supply to fulfill their daily needs. It is also great news for Gamesa as it broke the 2000 megawatt milestone within a financial year. It is wonderful to see these initiatives taken towards utilizing renewable sources of energy by the Indian government. For a population as big as a developing country like India, using natural resources to feed into the country's ever-growing population will be costly and cause irreversible damage to nature's ecological balance. Thus, I look forward to hearing such great accomplishments by the Indian government as it is definitely pushing the country in the right direction.

Wind energy has is becoming a major industry as many other renewable energy sources. This is great for the world not only from an environmental perspective but an economical perspective. Wind turbines are major machinery that need parts to be manufactured and can bring a lot job in a economical growing country like India. India has very skilled workforce that will benefit from such an industry and it will also benefit from cleaner energy. I am optimistic that private companies all around the world will continue to invest in renewable energy.
