Neuralink is one of the companies that are founded by Elon Musk and it is developing ultra high bandwidth brain-machine interfaces to connect humans and computers. This is an amazing idea by Elon Musk but I am not sure what he actually wants from this? In this article, the example for "Other" is given for humans but on the title, it is saying that it will stop AI from becoming Others.

He is planning on designing such a complex system or machine that will have to work just like a brain to be able to transfer all of the thoughts and ideas from a brain. Not just that, it will have to work as fast as a brain works, it will have to have all the knowledge and visual information that a brain will have. To me, it is something like impossible to achieve in its full context. If he is planning on transferring a smaller or limited portion of human thoughts into another brain then it might work but what is the point of that?

The idea itself is great but I don't see this to happen even in the coming century. On the other hand, if it ever happens, its use can be devastating as some people will be using it for negative things and it will be a lot easier for them to transform their destructive thoughts to someone like them.

Although this is a tremendous idea, I think this will not come to reality. The drive behind high speed communication among humans is great for the advancement of our civilization, but I think too few people are going to feel comfortable with computers access to all of our thoughts and emotion. People rarely feel comfortable giving other people our cell phones for fear of what they might find. NSA surveillance is also a HUGE fear of ours, having big brother always watching makes weary of big government. I think the minute people begin to think that Nueralink can be used to spy on them is the minute people will fight strongly against it.

Most forward thinking begins with wild, futuristic, and absurd ideas. However - eventually - these ideas, over time, gain legs and become part of our everyday lives. While, integrating the human brain with AI is pretty advanced, there are obvious benefits - the rate of transferring communications can increase exponentially. However, there are obvious drawbacks, as well. We constantly see these drawbacks in the news and in our everyday lives - and that is the vulnerability with information on computers. Maintaining 100% privacy 100% of the time is no guarantee and can have SERIOUS implications depending on the information that is hacked.

Implanting a 'neural lace' onto the human brain sounds intriguing, but it will take decades before this idea ever sees daylight. Musk is proposing a conceptual human to machine interaction which will not only breach every level of human privacy, it will have huge repercussions if it lands in the wrong hands, which it most certainly will. If this plan ever comes to fruition, certain control laws could have to be put into place, as not everyone should have access to such technology. Not sure how strictly those control laws would be followed though, as we all know we haven't even been able to put other issues such as the gun control laws in place. If such a microchip ever exists, a whole new law enforcement agency would have to be created, whose size is unfathomable to me. Besides this, the whole 'othering' discussion in this article was pretty interesting I must say!
