The Worcester Public Library has two (2) opening in our Circulation Department as an L2 Circulation Assistant. This is a PART-TIME paraprofessional position of 20 hours per week and includes full benefits with the City of Worcester.

 

Salary

 

$22.26 - $26.81 hourly/ based on experience

 

Description

 

This is a part-time paraprofessional position under the general direction of the Manager of Circulation Services within the Borrower Services division.  This paraprofessional position will assist with planning and organizing activities; perform circulation and clerical/administrative work; assist patrons in the use of the library services, facilities and equipment; and interpret library policies to patrons.  The Circulation Assistant is involved in all operations related to circulation of library materials while delivering excellent customer service. The ideal candidate will possess strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills and have experience working with diverse populations in an urban community.

 

The schedule for this position will be Tuesday – Friday, and every other Saturday for a half day with either Thursday or Friday off when Saturday is worked. The position will also include working at other locations.

Minimum Requirements

 

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Data entry experience and/or community public service work, such as library, bookstore, or equivalent
  • Ability to successfully pass CORI/SORI
  • Ability to travel between locations

 

Preferred Qualifications

 

  • One (1) year of supervisory experience
  • One (1) year of data entry experience and/or community public service work, such as library, bookstore, or equivalent. Specific courses that have hands-on experience may be substituted for work experience
  • One (1) year customer service experience
  • One (1) year of experience working with a diverse population
