Seeking Library Director
Overview
The Town of Bridgton, Maine (pop. 6,256) is seeking a community-oriented leader to be its next Library Director. Bridgton is a desirable and growing residential lakeside community serving as a year-round hub in the Lakes Region. The Bridgton Public Library is a non-profit 501(c)(3) organization that has 3,493 total card holders, 633 of them are non-resident. We had 17,992 people walk through our doors in 2025, with a 50% increase in visitors during July.
The Library’s primary purpose is to serve the community as its information and cultural enrichment center, providing access to educational, informational, and recreational resources in a friendly, safe atmosphere while being responsive to the changing needs of the community. The Bridgton Public Library is an anchor of the Chickadee Library Consortium, sharing our resources and collections with five other libraries to fully support all the communities served.
We are planning for the summer of 2027, a renovation and expansion of our historic building to address the community needs of literacy, lifelong learning and digital equity. Previous experience managing this type of project is helpful but not required.
