Happy New Year to our New England Colleagues and Friends!

We still have several seats left in our three-credit, 100% online and asynchronous LIBR 1020 Library Youth Services course for the Spring 2026 semester
in the Library Technology Certificate Program at CT State Three Rivers.

Classes begin: January 23, 2026.

About the course:
The LIBR 1020 - Library Youth Services course provides a critical study of literature for children and young adults, this course is designed to introduce students to the basic elements for bringing literature and readers together. The study includes a variety of literary forms such as folklore, poetry, fiction, drama, and nonfiction, and discussions of writers, illustrators, storytelling, and library programming from early childhood to young adulthood. This is an approved course by the American Library Association-Library Support Staff Certification for the Youth Services competency set.

Registration:
Those interested in registering should contact Catherine Ray (cather...@ctstate.edu). Catherine is the Guided Pathways Advisor for all library technology students, and she can make sure that your registration progresses smoothly.

About our program:
Our program is a 27-30 credit, fully online and asynchronous, Library Technology Certificate program. We are recognized by ALA-APA (American Library Association - Allied Professional Association) as an approved provider of library technology courses that support the ALA’s Library Support Staff Certification (LSSC). We welcome full-time and part-time students, students who just want to take one class in the program to sharpen their skills in a particular area, and students who want to pursue the full certificate. However you want to learn, we will support your journey!

We are not a graduate program. However, professional librarians have taken a course or two in our program to refresh/update their technology skills. In addition, many of our graduates who come to us with a bachelor's degree already will choose to continue their library science studies at the graduate level. Our program is a great bridge for career changers who love libraries, but who have never worked in libraries.
