Part-time Library Associate
The Auburn Public Library is looking for an enthusiastic, detail-oriented individual to join its highly-collaborative team as a Library Associate. The selected individual would be responsible for regularly staffing the library’s busy circulation desk, assisting patrons with various library inquiries, including some technology troubleshooting. They would also be involved in supporting other library staff in developing and presenting library programs, collection development, and the planning and implementation of various library services.
This is an entry-level, part-time (19 hours/week) position. Times scheduled may vary but would primarily be afternoons and evenings, Monday through Thursday, and Saturdays.
Credentials
A Bachelor’s degree and at least one year of professional work experience, preferably in a busy public setting, is required.
Qualifications
The ideal candidate possesses excellent verbal and written communication skills and is committed to the highest caliber of patron service. They must be familiar with basic library functions and be comfortable interacting in a friendly, consistent manner with a wide variety of individuals in a very busy environment. Attention to detail is vital. They must be curious to learn new skills and be capable of pivoting between highly disparate tasks as the situation requires. The ideal candidate will function well under direct supervision but also be interested in taking initiative and capable of functioning independently for significant stretches of time. Highly developed critical thinking and problem-solving skills are welcomed.
This position falls within the Local 2936, United Steelworkers, AFL-CIO Collective Bargaining Unit. Salary range is based on step increases, with an introductory salary range of $20.06-$22.10/hour based on experience.
