Hi everyone.  Please be on the lookout for e-mails from BikeReg that claim that your account needs verification and contains links:  Looks like BikeReg has been compromised and this looks like a phishing e-mail that might compromise your computer as well.  If you see any e-mails from BikeReg that have a title that starts with "KYC"; delete immediately and purge from your e-mail box.

Thanks, Alan! I just got it and was trying to also let people know and wasn’t sure how to get the word out ASAP. This is it!

If you aren’t paying enough attention, it’s convincing. But the sender email is the clue, as well as the URL.

Thanks for letting people know, Alan.  For the record, nothing at BikeReg was compromised and no one's accounts are compromised -- this is just someone typing some stuff in the "contact event" feature to try to trick you into giving them money and/or your BikeReg credentials.  Unfortunately, keeping people from typing tricky stuff into the "contact event" function is pretty hard since we DO want to let people type whatever their question is....

We'll be making some changes tomorrow that should make it a bit more clear that "contact event" emails are DEFINITELY not BikeReg system emails.  Hopefully no one out there fell for the idea that for some reason BikeReg suddenly needed your credit card to "verify" your account.... but you did, you're gonna want to dispute that charge and change your password ASAP.

I had reached out to BR support and their reply is below. They advise to delete the email but not report as spam for the reason shown.

Thank you for reaching out. This is spam, please delete that email, it is a phishing scam using the public facing "Contact Event" page. I would not recomment reporting it as spam as it is sent through one of our pages, we are working on blocking this type of thing from happening in the future.

Never click on links.  It’s that simple.
