Hi everyone.  Many thanks to all of the promoters who gave us their info for the upcoming road season.  Just a reminder that the tentative schedule can be seen here: We will launch this on Jan 1 and then start taking in some cyclocross events.

One thing I wanted to discuss with you all is the need for race officials for next season and beyond.  We are at a critical shortage right now that could potentially lead to less racing opportunities if not fixed right away.

For those RD's who are putting on events this coming year; would you be so kind as to ask your fellow club members if anyone is interested in taking the exam and becoming an official.  NEBRA has an active program that will assist in costs of the officials license for up to 3 years for new officials that work at least 3 races in a season.  The details are here: https://nebra.us/nebra-officials-incentive-program/.  Even if you gather one or two people to use as club officials for your events, that would be helpful in preventing the overburdening of folks who wind up working all of the races because of lack of availability of officials.  My hope would be that every single event in NE provides at least 1 person to become a club official, who could then work their club event(s) and possible others if they enjoy what they're doing.

Please let me know if anyone has any questions.  Thanks in advance for your consideration of this.

Hi All:

A few years ago I wrote the article "A day in the life of an official" on the NEBRA website. Please share that with your clubs so that they can get an idea of what it is like out there being an official.  One thing to emphasize is that most events will allow an apprentice on the crew so new officials have plenty of time to learn from the experienced officials.
