2024 Frozen Four, Plainville CT- Greater Hartford Cycling Club

Guys-

We are tentatively scheduling the 7th annual “Frozen Four” series of bike races for the first 4 Sundays in March (the last Sunday is Easter this year). 

This would be March 2, 9, 16, and 23.

Racing schedule may change to a 4/5 event first thing in the AM, and no Women 1,2, category this year (We only had 2-3 women show last year). 

I’d sure love to see Ninigrit or some nearby event the last Saturday in March to keep the momentum going-(I’d be happy to post upcoming events at our race venue!)

Also

Any thoughts as to a “tentative” NEBRA Calendar link on Bikereg? If we don’t have road events out there early our racers can’t plan to be at the events, and they can’t plan their season. 

I’d also love to see us not have competing events on the same days if possible.

Great idea for Ninigret! The track is open the 30th. I am going to check with the club and see if we can get a Crit to happen that day also in addition to Sunshine on 5/11.

We are planning to run Wells Ave starting Easter Sunday 3/30 and each Sunday through April.

Adding a U12 race this year, between the C and B races.

The 4 race Scarborough Crit Series is 4/21, 4/28, 5/5 and 5/19. No 5/12 as that is Mothers Day which is a sacred morning and no one ever shows up to race. Registration opens on BikeReg January 1st. Come cross the bridge and give it a try.

Thoughts on a Saturday at Ninigret and Sunday at Wells ave. Is there enough demand out there currently for 2 races on the same weekend? The 90 minutes / 85 mile distance matter?

I don't want to hurt Wells Ave by having Ninigret on Saturday.

I appreciate the sentiment, Jonathon. I believe there is a appetite for Sat/Sun racing. Wells Ave is more dependent on weather than anything else.

Wells the day after Hatfield hasn't hurt us in the past. People come out to chat about the day before as much as the threshold workout itself.
