Creative Destruction by Social Network

In a previous blog, I expressed my frustrations with the current state of Institutional Repositories (Let IR RIP http://scitechsociety.blogspot.com/2016/07/let-ir-rip.html).

(As an aside, there have been some positive developments with the rollout of unpaywall and pubmed linkout services. These increase the usefulness of IRs. Over time, this may put pressure on IR managers to harmonize their conflicting IR policies. I just worry this process is too slow for the digital age.)
