Hello,

With all of the conversation about ETD uploading and all of the different methods that people have, my team and I were thinking about our own process and especially the time that goes into embargoing ETDs. Our programs still require physical copies to be brought to the library, and we were wondering if anyone else has a similar experience, or if there are any suggestions for how we can transition away from this model? One note, we are looking into having an isolated computer system in our Special Collections and Archives that could host embargoed material with IP address limiters, but we are also not sure if that will be more efficient.

Any advice or thoughts are welcome, thank you!

Hi Connor,

What platform are you using for your ETDs? I'm not sure I understand why you would need "an isolated computer system in [y]our Special Collections and Archives that could host embargoed material with IP address limiters."

Also, we haven't required print copies of theses and dissertations since 2010, I believe. I started working here at Emory in 2018, so it was before my time. I have a vague recollection that those who were here told me they phased in the transition to digital-only over a couple of years. Is there a specific reason your institution is still requiring print copies?

Best,

Jody
