Hi all, 

Here are some announcements & updates for our upcoming events!

The Science Communication Workshop will be held this Saturday from 9 AM to 1 PM for those who have RSVP'd. Registration is now full. Breakfast/coffee and lunch will be provided! If you no longer wish to attend, please let us know. For those who couldn't make it this time, we are discussing the possibility have hosting another workshop in the Spring semester. 


Next week Thursday, we will be having our monthly policy forum. Details for this months forum are shown below. If you have suggestions for future forum topics feel free to leave them here

SPI@ND September Policy Forum: GMOs, and the wide use of biotechnology from our farms to our forests.
GMO free vs lifesaving crop? Public option is divided on what GMOs are, and what the effects are.  Join the Science Policy Initiative on Thursday, September 26th at 5:00 PM in Room 106 Duncan Student Center as we discuss the facts, potentials and pitfalls of biotechnology. Dr. Jeanne Romero-Severson will lead a discussion on the first GMOs, bioengineering tools, real impacts of GMOs, appropriate uses, and the regulatory landscape. Dr. Romero-Severson led the final effort to develop Bt corn, has extensive experience in plant genetics and forest health and helped craft the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine’s report of Forest Health and Biotechnology. Food and light refreshments will be served.    


Save the date: Our happy hour social will be held on October 2nd. More details to come!
