Our last Michiana Science Cafe of the semester/year will be next Tuesday (12/17) at 7:30 PM. Join us as we hear from Notre Dame graduate student Tracy Lockwood and her work on improved testing of illicit drugs. Free appetizers will be provided while supplies last!
As drug overdose deaths across the United States continue to rise, there is increasing interest in field testing of illicit substances. Join us to learn about a new paper-based analytical device (idPAD) that can run 12 colorimetric tests at the same time, each detecting different illicit drugs and drug cutting agents.

Save the date: March 2nd, 2020
Applications are now OPEN for our 2nd Annual Science Communication Day at the Indiana Statehouse (see attached flyer). Deadline for submission is Jan. 31st. A Q+A session will be hosted during our January meeting for those who want to learn more!
Participants will have the opportunity to meet with State Senators, Representatives, and their staff to practice communicating about their research to a non-technical audience. The goal of the event is to increase visibility of scientists at the statehouse, and begin cultivating the relationships that are so essential for creating evidence-based policy. For more information please check out our website or email us directly at (scip...@nd.edu). -----------
Remember our Science Communication workshop? We are bringing it back for a Part 2! Keep a lookout for more information next semester!
