Although scholars regularly refer to the language of concepts and preconceptions when discussing ancient and late ancient texts, there are not many contributions that explicitly focus on the nature and character of these terms, their Greek or Latin equivalents, and their philosophical implications. The book under review is of interest to those working on ancient epistemology, theories of knowledge acquisition, concept formation, and mental entities in general. The selection of texts and authors discussed range from the Presocratics to Greek Neoplatonism and the early fathers of the Church.
