A mention and link to ISPF-L was provided by Donna Hudi of Phoenix Software as part of her reboot of Sam Knutson's Fully-Wired System Programmer session.

Someone (Ray Mullins?) said the link was obsolete, so I am giving it a try to see if it works...

Thanks,

I receive messages every now and then also, so the list still works.

There’s an ISPF feature that displays DDs currently allocated (among other things), sort of like LISTALC but more clearly, and lets one do various things to the lines displayed.  ISR-something, right?  I haven’t used the command in a while, and have mislaid it somewhere in my memory.  What’s it called, again?

I believe you are referring to ISRDDN.  Don’t forget about another powerful cousin ISRFIND.

Yes, ISRDDN, thanks!  I tried that before, but I was thinking at the time that it was an ISPF command, not a TSO command, so I was trying to run it from the ISPF command line without the “tso” prefix; when that didn’t work (“Invalid option”), I thought I must have misremembered it.

“ISRFIND” sounds familiar, but ... what does it do?  Better yet, where’s it documented?

I don’t know about doc, I don’t even know where (or if) ISRDDN is documented, my knowledge of how to use either is more from OTJ.  I imagine ISRFIND can do a lot more than what I use it for but it’s a go-to for me when searching where pesky loadmod’s might be, especially when someone might have setup a situation where there’s multiple copies in Linklist.  It’s ostensibly a utility for searching any type of PDS for members but I use it almost exclusively for searching Linklist and LPA for loadmods.  If you invoke it, same way as ISRDDN, there’s a front end menu that is relatively intuitive.  Use it a few times and  you’ll get the hang of it.  If anybody knows if/where doc is for ISRDDN/ISRFIND please point to it here as I’m sure there’s others that could benefit.

Try: <https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/zos/2.4.0?topic=i-isrddn-diagnostic-utility>:
You can start ISRDDN by issuing the commands TSO ISRDDN
or DDLIST from any ISPF command line.

GIYF: <https://www.ibm.com/docs/en/zos/3.1.0?topic=dti-ispf-debug-tools>

ISRFIND
A REXX exec that issues a LISTA STATUS and searches for a specified member or load module. Also, the exec optionally calls AMBLIST to check the MODIFIED, FIXED, and PAGEABLE LPAs and checks LPALIST and LNKLST (pointed to by system control blocks) for the specified load module. If invoked under ISPF, the information is displayed via an ISPF table display (panel ISRFINDP) and allows the user to BROWSE or EDIT the specified member.

ISRFIND...   Very interesting.

About 30 years ago I and my team began using 'SHOWMEM' (REXX) for this same purpose.  While ISRFIND may be (probably is) faster, SHOWMEM has oodles of additional function.  It is currently housed on the CBT machine (for those who have access) but is not presently available as a CBT download.  Perhaps I ought to remedy that...
