Carlo analyzes and synthesizes data for the Western Wildfire Resilience Index (WWRI) at the University of California, Santa Barbara’s (UCSB) National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis (NCEAS). His current career interests involve scalable computing, machine vision, remote sensing and using generative AI to accelerate the spread of data science around the world.

Abstract:
“This is the worst it will ever be” is a common phrase in the emerging subculture around artificial intelligence (AI). It often is said after someone’s mind is blown by a new feature released by the rapidly advancing AI industry. It communicates the individual's excitement about the development of the field and the anticipation that whatever application of AI they are interacting with now will only get better, cheaper, or faster.

A year ago, a much younger Carlo Broderick gave a presentation on the state of generative AI within the field of coding and data science. Things have changed significantly since then and not in all the ways the younger Carlo had hoped. In this second annual AI update presentation, Carlo will take a more expansive approach to sharing the developments in the generative AI space with a focus on personal use, professional use, and mind explosion.

Neither this presentation’s biography nor its abstract were written with the help of generative AI.

Find more information about Carlo and his talk in the attached flyer.

Hello,

Feedback:
The zoom link should be in the flyer.

No big deal.

Best,
Carlo Broderick
