Happy New Year! To kick off the Winter/Spring Roundtable season, NCEAS Director Ben Halpern will be giving his annual State of the Center talk.

Abstract

In this annual talk, Director Ben Halpern reviews the Center’s major programs and initiatives, providing an update on accomplishments over the past year and previewing some exciting new directions for 2025 and beyond.

The talk will cover the Center’s many research, training, and informatics programs as well as efforts to enhance our community, broaden participation, build synergies between art and science, and sustain the Center and its vital programs into the future.

About the Speaker

Ben Halpern is a Professor of Marine Biology and Conservation Science at the Bren School of Environmental Science & Management at UC Santa Barbara and Director of the National Center for Ecological Analysis and Synthesis. He is a marine ecologist and conservation scientist with broad, interdisciplinary interests.
