Dear colleagues,

this is a long e-mail, feel free to skip it if you are annoyed by
reading this far :-)

The story goes like this: about two months ago a crazy plan emerged when
Oded Rechavi, Itai Yanai, Pavel Tomancak and me discussed putting
together a disorganized scientific meeting. To cut the long story short,
it will take place in Prague 10-13/6/2025 (starting 13:00 on 10th and
having the great finale in woods near Prague at 1:00 (AM) on 13th. The
general idea of the meeting is to get together open minded nerdy people
with diverse background and bring the first edition of the Woodstock of
Biology to another level. Oded Rechavi's woodstock.bio meeting was a
great "paradigm shift" :-) of meeting organization. One slide
presentations of unpublished data in random order with walk up songs, a
spotlight for every speaker, mandatory tweeting, and meeting's twitter
handle #physiologicalirrelevantconference sound bizarre but it actually
worked quite well:

Funny enough, for most attendees this was the last meeting before COVID
and those who attended thought if this was the last one, it was a great
finale of human existence.

Now we are heading for the second edition and it is going to be boosted
by the concept of Night science:
https://genomebiology.biomedcentral.com/articles/10.1186/s13059-019-1800-6
... Itai Yanai promotes a concept of Day Science (grants, paperwork,
benchwork, experiment, e-mails ...) and Night Science (creative chaos
from which ideas emerge) and he also argues that creativity can be
stimulated (which is true but our institutes are not ready for it and I
am not just talking about the sorely missed CSHL-like Krc campus bar)
... anyway, we are going to blend the spontaneity of the Woodstock of
Biology concept with ideas of Night science into one meeting like no
other to stimulate creativity and put together curious scientists who
would hardly ever meet each other at a conference ... and give ideas to
fly around and be mixed and form into something new. How?

The meeting will have highly intense lecture hall sessions combined with
long "idle" sessions organized to promote or even enforce one-on-one
discussions and discussions in small groups. We rented Kino Lucerna for
the opening intense session, then we will have the rest of the day after
a shorter or longer walk through downtown to the campus Hybernska, where
will be program distributed into the atrium and five lecture halls and
will run until late night. I'm not gonna tell you details of Day 2
except we booked the Vysehrad na Hradbach open air restaurant and will
have the evening program there. On Day 3 at 7:24 will leave from
Vrsovice a train, which I booked today and will travel to woods to have
the proper Woodstock finale. There we will have the whole YMCA Sobesin
place for ourselves for a whole day festival of science with open air
poster sessions and other programs an evening poster burning session.
Live music and big closing party in the evening, people can stay in huts
(we booked all of them) or use late night buses returning to Prague by
midnight. In the morning it will be over. Who wants, can leave the
meeting in a canoe, others will have buses to take them to Prague.

We want to use this meeting as an opportunity to stand up for what we
like the most - doing science - and bring three days of creativity going
berserk & joy of being scientists. For those who like it. For those who
need it. For those who lost it and want it back. No other conference can
give you what we will :-)  The capacity is limited by the smallest large
lecture hall to 230 people. Requirements? Be ready to present and
discuss your unpublished data & ideas and listen to others and discuss
their unpublished data & ideas from Tuesday afternoon to Friday early
morning. The registration fee is 230 Euro per person and will increase
every month by 40 Euro (i.e. in 5 days). We will provide the program,
coffee breaks & dinners, transport to Sobesin and back, full catering in
Sobesin, accommodation if you stay there overnight, and some things I am
not allowed to talk about. We will book canoes centrally but for them
people will pay extra and once they leave in them on 13th in the
morning, they are on their own. There is 70 places available at the
moment. The registration list has people from as far as Australia and
West Coast. Imagine, flying to Prague from there to give a talk with a
single slide of unpublished data - that's true dedication to science :-)
... the meeting is actually a great opportunity for PIs to meet other
PIs from around the world - here may be the next unexpected MC ITN, LTA
InterAction, InterExcellence, HFSP, Synergy ...  collaboration. Or not.
One will still learn a lot, make new friends, and will be able to say,
when this meeting will become a legend: yes I was there :-)

If you want more details, you find it on twitter & bsky under
#theconferencetoendallconferences handle. We prefer bsky though and hope
that this meeting will also help to mobilize and expand the bsky
research community like once was the scitwitter.

And, if you wish to register and read it all the way to here, the link

Have a nice day
