We’re having our next NJ NAGDU meeting on Wednesday, June 17, and our main topic will be managing the rising cost of vet care.

I know about Care Credit.  I know about pet insurance, which often does not cover routine visits, but does cover accidents and hospital care.  Correct me if I’m wrong about that.

I know some schools help with vet care costs, including GDB.  What are the other schools that help?

And there’s the vet cost method I use—making sure I have enough money saved to take care of what’s needed, which so far has been less than insurance premiums would be.

Have I missed anything?  Do people have things I should add in to our discussion next week?

Thanks.

Tracy

Hi-

Guiding Eyes has a veterinary assistance fund for graduates. There are also other funds for catastrophic illness/surgeries/injuryes the vet staff could approve depending on the situation.

When my second dog ate a tennis ball, I received funds to cover it. It was one time only for the dog.

Also, GEB is  one of the animal organizations accepted by AMC in NYC. Animal Medical Hospital in NYC and if the graduate lives within the approved areas, vet care is free. Dog two also received lung surgery free because of this from AMC in NYC.

Thanks.  I forgot about AMC.  I’ve used it myself occasionally.
