Hello everyone. Please pass this along to others who might be coming to the convention and who are staying at the main hotel and have not yet checked in.
We have noticed that the hotel check-in process involves a dog registration similar to the questions asked when flying with service animals. Please be aware that this is not required even if the hotel check-in person tells you it is. Under the ADA, only two questions are permitted: Is it a service animal for a disability, and what is it trained to do? Yes and I'm blind is usually good enough. Any further requirements are against the law.
We have taken steps to let the hotel staff be aware of this. Please keep in mind that the check-in folks are doing their jobs and what they have been asked to do, so be polite but firm when encountering this issue if it happens to you or to someone you know.
Thanks.
