Hi,

Apologies if this is the wrong place to ask this but I'm trying to find a list of UK Postcode Sector Centroids. The data for full postcodes are available direct from OS or ONS but I can't find a reliable source for centroids for postcode *sectors*.

Ideally this would be a density centroid where it's weighted according to the population density of the full postcodes within that sector.

If anyone can point me to this data I'd be really grateful.

Thanks,

Darwin

Most geographic multi-user postcodes cover approximately the same number
of properties, so you could get a close enough approximation to the
"true" sector centroid by simply averaging the coordinates of all the
multi-user postcodes within the sector. The only thing that would make
that anything other than a trivial programming task is the need to weed
out single-user and non-geographic postcodes before making the calculation.

http://postcodepal.com/?page=database-generator looked interesting, but non-authoritative. Their warning over their Density centroids suggests they're taking the task seriously to me.

Thanks. I tried Postcode Pal - It's exactly what I'm looking for and it's great that they've made the data available for others to use. Unfortunately there are quite a few errors in the density centroid dataset e.g. postcodes which have a lat/long which puts them in an entirely different part of the country. These postcodes are correct in their other datasets so I think there is a bug in their algorithm for calculating the density centroids. This is entirely understandable as this is a non trivial calculation.

I've contacted them to let them know but it would be great if anyone knows of any other sources in the meantime?

Thanks,

Darwin
