Hello everyone,
The opportunity to share your work at our Impacts of Civic Technology Conference (
TICTeC 2025) is still open, until
next Wednesday 15 January. If you'd like to submit a session proposal, please do so via
this application form.
For the
10th anniversary of TICTeC, we are shaping the conference around ‘
pro-democracy technology'. The need for technology to strengthen democracy rather than undermine it is more important than ever.
Read more here.
TICTeC 2025 will focus on exploring the impact of pro-democracy tech innovations across these critical areas:
- Access to information and open data
- People and politics
- Climate change
In each of these areas, we want to explore:
- Defensive approaches to tackle threats to democracy (e.g. anti-corruption platforms/tools)
- Constructive approaches to enrich and strengthen civic and democratic life (e.g. technologies that build participatory and deliberative approaches)
Beyond these topics, we will also have time for sessions that are interested in meta questions around ideas of civic tech and pro-democracy technology.
We have a small number of travel grants available for selected speakers, so if you can't fund yourself to come to Belgium, don't let this put you off applying, as there is a chance we can support you to attend.
Moreover, this year we are accepting a number of virtual presentations, so you can present from your own home.
TICTeC 2025 will take place on 10 & 11 June in the Belgian city of Mechelen, and will also have virtual attendance options.
To attend, you must register here. Be an early bird and you can save £100 if you register before 3rd March.
If you need guidance on submitting a session proposal don't hesitate to contact me - we're very happy to provide advice!
All the best,
Gemma.
