Hello everyone!
With Winter Carnival and the snow coming faster than we can imagine I would like to release the 2026 Winter Carnival Rulebook. For those of you who may not know this rulebook contains everything you will need to succeed for this upcoming WC season. I strongly suggest you familiarize yourself with the dates for your respective events, especially the highlighted parts. There have been a lot of changes this year, the largest changes will be highlighted at the end of this email. Please note that weather can affect dates and times and please continue checking your email for updates from this email. If you wish to have someone added to this email to get updates, please email
blu...@mtu.edu. Let's have an amazing Winter Carnival!
Major Rule Changes:
Statues:
- There will be a $50 fee for every organization that needs to unlock the Portage Lake Vault (body barn) without notifying the statue chair a week before set pick up and return dates on application form.
- The safety rules will be enforced using the month-long safety form. If you have 10 points on your safety form, you will be disqualified. The safety form will be updated by the statue committee as they go on rounds.
- There will be 2 points added to your originations safety form if you do not show up to your intended scaffolding pick up time without notifying the statue chair 3 business days ahead of time
- Each statue site must have a defined boundary and this boundary must be communicated with the statue chair. Moving this boundary after it has been set by the statue chair will result in disqualification
- Each individual violation of a safety rule will count as an independent safety violation (ex. if 3 people are not wearing hard hats, it counts as 3 violations)
Winter Games:
- Special Events are now Winter Games
- No Call and No Show for a winter game is now -10 points to overall score
- New Hungry Hungry Huskies winter game
If you have any questions about the updates or the rulebook in general, please email
blu...@mtu.edu or respective chair.
