Faith Morrison Honored by Friends of the Michigan Tech Library

by Friends of the Michigan Tech Library

Faith Morrison (ChE) was recently honored for her 25 years of service to the Michigan Tech Library by the Friends of the Michigan Tech Library (FMTL), at its 25th Annual Meeting, Oct. 27.

Morrison was recognized for being a founding member of the FMTL, who continues to give her time and energy to ensure the Michigan Tech Library remains a centerpiece of knowledge and information at the University. She was at the very first annual meeting of the Friends in 1995, and helped draft the Friends mission statement and by-laws.

Morrison has not only been a tireless advocate for the Michigan Tech Library, but has done so while becoming a valued researcher, teacher, and professor in the department of Chemical Engineering. In addition to her work for the Library, in 2015 she received a Distinguished Service Award from the Society of Rheology, and also maintains a YouTube channel to help her students in Chemical Engineering master the topic.

Elected the first chair of the Friends, and serving as Chair from time-to-time over the years, Dr. Morrison has been the editor of the newsletter of the Friends since the first issue, just completing the 50th installment of Views, Volume 25, No. 2.

Morrison is also a loyal baker of cookies for the annual Winter Carnival hot-chocolate and cookie give-away book sale held at the library. She is also the greeter and receiver of memberships at the door of the annual book sale held in the MUB. She gets the job done herself but is never shy in getting others to step up to help as well.

She was thanked for being a great friend, colleague, and board member of the Friends of the Michigan Tech Library for the past 25 years. On behalf of all Friends past and present, she was given the title of Honorary Awesome Friend of the Library! The Michigan Tech Library has benefited from Faith Morrison’s work and vision. See more about the FMTL at the Friends website.

Congratulations, Faith!
