Good evening ASPEN members and social science graduate students!

For those intending to coordinate plans at this year's ISSRM conference in Oshkosh, WI (https://www4.iasnr.org/international-symposium-on-society-and-resource-management-issrm/), I would like to (in)formally invite you to consider participating in the Quiz Bowl team!

It's a really exciting event that tests both local and global knowledge of people, natural resources, policy, qualitative and quantitative methods, ecology and science, and what I'm sure Alex Trebek would call a factoid/trivia "potpourri" category of questions that are fun and interesting! This year since it's being held in Wisconsin, the theme is likely to be loosely based around Aldo Leopold, indigenous communities, native American heritage, and a whole bunch of others I'm sure.

Time to dust off that copy of A Sand County Almanac and show the world what this quiz bowl team is made of!  But seriously, last year we were just out to have fun, we really didn't try that hard and we got like 4th place out of 8 (not too shabby), and we got to eat popcorn topped with a delicate butter with shaved truffle or something like that...

Once we have a headcount of solid interests we will formulate teams! Last year's team name of "Where's that ASPEN?" is due for retirement ASAP, let's create a new team name. So in summary.....

1) Interested in quiz bowl at ISSRM this year? Email me back!
2) Got an (un)inspiring and/or silly team name? Please share....or else we're back to "Where's that ASPEN?" :(

Best,

Jake
