Join ornithologist Ellie Roark at Point of View cabin at 10 a.m. on Saturday, May 18, for a guided hike across her bird migration study sites at Point Abbaye. Ellie is completing her second spring of bird survey work, this year comparing the effectiveness of her labor-intensive point and transect counts to those taken by audio recorders. Hike with Ellie to look for birds and learn about the life of a resident scientist at this rustic, remote setting and how the use of ARUs might benefit bird migration studies. Dress in layers and waterproof footwear and bring a lunch or snacks and drinking water. Event will conclude around 1:00 p.m. Take some time to explore the county park at Point Abbaye or other KLT protected near POV if you like. Ellie’s study is funded by Copper Country Audubon and the Wilson Ornithological Society and KLT provides her lodging.
