Dear Members,
Good day. My name is O’Neil, writing on behalf of the Malaysia Project Management Community (MPC.org.my).
You are receiving this update as part of the MPC participant network. This message is intended to share an overview of MPC’s upcoming greenhouse gas (GHG)–related programme intakes.
GHG Work Is Moving Beyond Reporting
As more organisations publish greenhouse gas (GHG) inventories, the focus of GHG work is shifting from disclosure to accountability.
Independent review and verification under ISO 14064-3 is expected to become increasingly relevant as part of this progression.
At the same time, organisations are facing higher expectations around the quality, credibility, and defensibility of their ISO 14064-1 inventories.
Distinct Roles, Different Responsibilities
ISO 14064-1 and ISO 14064-3 serve different professional roles.
ISO 14064-1 focuses on the preparation and management of organisational GHG inventories — including boundary setting, data consolidation, calculation methodologies, and internal accountability.
ISO 14064-3 addresses validation and verification — requiring independence, professional judgement, and the authority to challenge the work of others.
These roles are related, but they are not interchangeable.
Upcoming MPC Programme Intakes
MPC will be opening intakes for the following programmes:
• ISO 14064-1 – Organisational GHG Inventory & Quantification
• ISO 14064-3 – GHG Validation & Verification (Practitioner / Lead Verifier Pathway)
• Certificate of Practice (CoP) – a university-credentialed, site-based GHG practice programme
The Certificate of Practice (CoP) is designed to bridge training and real organisational work.
Participants undertake site-based GHG practice using real organisational data under professional supervision, to prepare for professional environments where GHG work is reviewed, questioned, and relied upon.
To our knowledge, this integration of ISO 14064 training with university-credentialed, real-site GHG practice remains limited in the region.
Preview Session
Because these pathways involve real professional responsibility, MPC begins with a 30-minute Preview Session (every Tuesday and Thursday at 8:30pm via Zoom), or a short 1-to-1 discussion.
The preview is intended to help participants assess:
For self-sponsored professionals, the preferential fee structure is also explained during the preview.
Attendance at the preview does not carry any obligation.
