Data users - We have identified an error with geo attribution in the telemetry pipeline that has caused some fraction of pings to be incorrectly attributed to a location in the US. The pipeline has been reverted to a known good state, so newly ingested data will have correct geo metadata.

For the time being, analysis results segmented by country will be heavily skewed toward the US, especially for Sept 1, 2, and 3.

Early next week, we will backfill data for the 5 affected days and rerun ETL to correctly populate derived tables.

For more information on root cause and planned mitigation, see https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1729069

This incident is now resolved.

We completed backfills of historical ping tables and derived tables late last week, so analyses should now show correct geo metadata throughout the affected dates.

If you see any remaining issues, feel free to reach out on #data-help on Slack or #telemetry on chat.m.o.
