Dear all,

Thanks to a joint team effort started in H1 2022, we are now ready to remove legacy data collection systems from Mozilla mobile products.

This is the final step into our multi-year journey to consolidate data collection in mobile browsers.

tl;dr
The legacy telemetry systems will be completely removed in Focus/Klar Android/iOS and Firefox iOS version 124 (January 22nd, 2024). KPI actual and forecast have both been using new data for mobile for over 12 months. Legacy mobile data has not been accessible in views since the beginning of the year and is not used in any critical mobile product analysis.

Who should care?
Data practitioners within the Data Org, Product Owners and engineers in other orgs.

Affected products
Firefox iOS, Focus/Klar iOS, Focus/Klar Android

What happens now?
On January 22nd, 2024 the code for the legacy system (see Appendix A of this document) in mobile products will be deleted. Starting from release 124 legacy data will no longer be sent from mobile products.

Please reach out to your Data Org partner for any question you may have on the impact on your work.
