Hi folks!

I've just landed a change in Nightly (Bug 1754005) which makes Firefox temporarily remember permission grants for the given tab (up to 1 hour). Previously (unless users checked "remember this decision") grants would have only been given on a one-off basis. Subsequent requests triggered a new permission prompt.

For example, if a website requests geolocation and a user accepts the permission prompt Firefox will now remember that decision and not prompt for subsequent geolocation requests for up to 1 hour or until the tab is closed.

This change only applies to site permissions. It will lower the amount of permission prompts we have to show to users reducing friction and prompt fatigue.

Screenshot of the temporary permission grant as shown in the permissions panel in Firefox:
Firefox with the permissions panel opened. The panel shows "Access to your location" "Allowed Temporarily" with a button to revoke the permission.

Best Regards,
Paul
