Good afternoon,

We have been deploying Firefox ESR with auto update disabled and each new release, I have had to deploy the new version to our users. Recently I have been testing the option to enable auto update to reduce workload and keep the clients updated.

I have found that for some users, the update is failing and the only option is to delete/rename the Mozilla folders found under Appdata.

Once these folders are deleted/renamed, opening Firefox will then successfully update.

Ideally we do not want to have to recreate new profiles for the users with each update. Do you know what in the users Firefox Profile could be causing this issue?

Thanks

I spoke to our install team and they can't think of anything in the profile that would break updates except maybe proxy settings.

Can you open a bug at bugzilla.mozilla.org and we'll have the install team investigate?

Just let me know the bug number.
