I'm not sure if I'm an idiot, or if the new profile system is flawed.  I'm setting up multiple profiles for a client, who wants to keep his current history/bookmarks/passwords but wants to have different email accounts in each one.  The old system works, but it's ugly, so I used the new system.  I renamed the current profile to his first email address, works great.  Then I created a second profile, and copied the entire first profile to the second (the way it was done with the old one) but when I select the second profile, no bookmarks have transferred.  I double checked the profile folders and re-copied.  No change.

Does the new profile system use a different folder layout?  The Mozilla page appears to be showing information for the old profile system, so I didn't see any answers there.

Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Thane,
as I also looked at some Firefox profile stuff today: There's a "Copy
this profile" function in the profile menu (in the main Firefox menu).
Would this solve your problem? I'm not sure how the actual profile
layout looks like ofr the new profile system, but I know the copy
feature exists.

Best regards

Frank

Is this for web email providers that can't have multiple accounts on the
same browser?

You should really try the Mozilla official Containers extension, and
teach the user to have multiple containers. all data is shares, except
session related ones like cookies, localstorage, etc. Password, History,
Bookmarks are shared.

Hi Frank,
I don't see a "Copy this Profile" in the Profile menu.  I have the profile names, then New Profile and Manage Profiles.

This is for a computer with four users, each with their own GMail account.  I guess containers could work, but that's a lot more work for me than just giving them each their own profile.  I know that the bookmarks will diverge over time, but I just want a base for them to start with.

I'm going to use the old profile system, since it will work.  Hopefully Mozilla will get the kinks out of the new one soon.
