Hello,

Klaxoon is a collaborative website with tools such as mind-mapping for example

We currently encounter an issue with this website on Firefox ESR 78.13 (the current version deployed on Orange computers) and behind our company proxy

The issue is with websocket connections

When it appears, we can see messages like this in the Web console (and the minds in the mind-mapping tool are greyed, we can’t move them, etc.):

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at wss://ws.klaxoon.com/connection/websocket.

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at wss://api.appcues.net/v1/socket/websocket?vsn=2.0.0.

Firefox can’t establish a connection to the server at wss://widget-mediator.zopim.com/s/W/ws/KmTKkrf0fdmYVcDh/c/1630656010485.

I’ve managed to determine that if we don’t use the proxy and plug directly with a personal internet connection, there is no issue

Also no issue with another web browser

And I’ve also managed to find that it also depends on the Firefox version

Here is the Firefox ESR versions I’ve tested:

Firefox ESR 60.0 : OK

Firefox ESR 60.9 : OK

Firefox ESR 68.0 : KO

Firefox ESR 68.12 : KO

Firefox ESR 78.13 : KO

Firefox ESR 91.0 : OK

And with mozregression I managed to find that:

Firefox Nightly 65.0a1 20181106220104 : OK

Firefox Nightly 65.0a1 20181107100135 : KO

Firefox Nightly 84.0a1 20201109102133 : KO

Firefox Nightly 84.0a1 20201109103845 : OK

I don’t feel the need to open a bug on Bugzilla, because it seems that it will already be fixed with Firefox ESR 91.0 (version we plan to deploy in the next weeks), and the users are told as a workaround to use Microsoft Edge Chromium instead, but it would be good to understand why it appeared and why it has been fixed

I tried to see if I could find something in the pushlogs (such as this one), but there is so much information in them that I feel lost.

And that’s why I write you this e-mail

There are some suspect changes, at least. This looks extremely suspicious:

And the comments like this:

Look similar to your setup.

There was a patch in 87 that fixed proxies and TURN servers:

I couldn't find anything in 84 specifically, but it's definitely something we've been working on.
