We currently deploy updates for ESR 102 manually using Configuration Manager.  I’m interested in changing this to automatic updates from Mozilla for minor updates only.

Firefox is installed on our PCs using /MaintenanceService=false, and our policies.json has DisableAppUpdate enabled.  I assume I need to replace that with AppUpdatePin = “102.”  Do I need to also specify ESR channel somehow?  Do I need to install MaintenanceService?

We use the “English (Canada)” installation package for each update.  Do I need to do anything to make sure it continues using this language for updates?

What happens once ESR 102 is no longer supported and a computer hasn’t been updated to the next ESR?  Will the user get some kind of message?

You'll have to re-install Firefox ESR with /MaintenanceService=true (or perhaps nothing, as it's default) in order to "activate" MaintenanceService.  It can't be "installed" separately.  (https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1689096#c16)

It'll auto-update to the next ESR 115.  I don't think you need to Pin it to 102, though (I didn't know that was possible).  My experience is that it tracks the _older_ ESR until that branch is no longer maintained, then moves to the next supported ESR (115).

Unless you use AppUpdatePin to pin it to 102. and then it will stay there until you remove the pin.
