Hello,

Part of a continuous effort to reduce noize generated by the autonag bot. We implemented a feature in autonag to aggregate related changes when posting them on Bugzilla.

As a start, autonag will trigger only one bugmail when performing the following actions:

  • Set release status flags based on info from the regressing bug.

  • Needinfo the assignee of the bug that caused the regression.

  • Change the bug type to defect when it has the regression, crash or assertion keyword.

We plan to enable the feature on Monday, August 22, 2022. You could peek at an example of aggregated bot changes by checking the dry-run.

Please feel free to suggest any actions that you think should be aggregated. Your feedback is genuinely appreciated.

Thank you,

Suhaib, on behalf of the CI and Quality Tools team.

Does this mean I will no longer receive two bugmails when the bot needinfo's me on a bug, one for the change to the bug and one for the flag request?

No, Bugzilla will still send two emails when somebody needinfo's you (bugmail about the new change/comment & notification about the needinfo). This behaviour is general to any needinfo request and not specific to the bot's actions.

There is a bug on file for Bugzilla about sending a single email: https://bugzilla.mozilla.org/show_bug.cgi?id=1774541.

Thanks!
