I've been using:
"Handlers": {
            "extensions": {
                "pdf": {
                    "action": "useHelperApp",
                    "ask": false,
                    "handlers": [{
                        "name": "Adobe Acrobat",
                        "path": "C:\\Program Files (x86)\\Adobe\\Acrobat DC\\Acrobat\\Acroread32.exe"
                    }]
                }
            }
        }

But since Acrobat is moving to x64, I'd like to switch that to just "use Windows default".

How do I do that?

For action, use

useSystemDefault

and remove handlers completely.

That should do it.
